I think Jamie and I are on a bit of a winning streak when it comes to watching professional sports games. On 4th of July we saw the Angels kill the blue Jays 8-2, last weekend we saw Galaxy school DC United 5-2 with a lovely hat trick from Landon Donovan and this last Saturday we saw Hull City disappoint Arsenal 2-1. Yes, that says Arsenal! Coming back from a 1-0 deficit to score two goals and leave the heavily favored Premier League giants wondering where they went wrong. It was a thriller to the end and has made Jamie's weekend if not his season. It will be a game remembered for decades among Hull City supporters.
The game kept us on a high all weekend. After the game we went to the Smithsonian Museum Day Open House and saw the old Orange County Courthouse which is only open Monday - Friday's 9 - 4 pm. So it was a rare opportunity for us working folks to get a glimpse of how things used to be. Today the main "court" is now used for commercials and movies as a set. It's simple and quaint and engulfs the simplicity of life a hundred years ago when Santa Ana only had around 5,000 people scattered inside it's boundaries. One of the biggest losses the old courthouse has had was the destruction of the jail. It would have a been an amazing structure to see and a statement of Victorian architecture which once littered the surrounding area. A Jail fit for the elite.
Later that night, my cousin turned 30, a big step for her. Apparently, when people have been polled they would like to go back to their 30's. It's a balance between being young and naive and older and wiser but without the body aches. So Chris, I hope you enjoy the perfect decade.
Next weekend, it's back to working on the house (shaving doors to be precise) but a bit of fun at the bowers museum open house sunday. Free Admission all day (even to the Terra Cotta Warriors exhibit) made possible by Target.
